Corporate sites are usually maintained differently than personal sites

Monday October 24, 2005
Whenever I write an article about CSS or standards based design I often get email commenting that I am not "practicing what I preach" because the About Web Design/HTML site does not always meet my high standards. What you may not realize is that I am not actually the Web developer for this site - I just write the content. In fact, this is very common on many corporate Web sites. There are content or editorial teams responsible for the content of pages and development or production teams responsible for the HTML coding. And even in that situation, you might have several people on a team writing the code, each of whom does things slightly differently either more or less up to certain standards. Understanding how corporate Web teams often work is one of the first steps to getting a job on those teams. Add Behind the Scenes to del.icio.us
