Don't cheat, it's not cool and Google won't like you

Friday November 25, 2005
An interesting form of cheating the search engines is called cloaking. This is where you set up your server to deliver one set of pages to search engine spiders and another set of pages to non-spiders. The idea being that you can improve your ranking by having keyword heavy pages for the spider. The problem is, if Google and other engines discover you're cloaking, your site can be banned from the engine completely. Which would completely negate your optimization efforts. I don't recommend it. Add Cloaking to del.icio.us
