Links should go where they say they're going

Okay, a while ago, I ranted for a while about the phrase "click here" for links. So if you don't know how I feel about that, read my I hate "click here" entry. But this entry is about more than just "click here". If you want to use click here, or your readers need it, then go ahead and use it. But, your links should say more than just click here. They should tell your readers what they're going to get when they click, and the title on the page shouldn't be different from the link text. I know, it's tempting to write cute links that sound cute, but if I click on a link for "cute puppies" and get a page about books, I'm going to be at least a little confused. At worst, I'm going to think that the write of the Web page is either stupid, irresponsible, or untrustworthy (or all three). Do you want that on your head?
