It's interesting to me what people think podcasting is

I've been having an on-going discussion about podcasting lately. There is a group of people I know who seem to believe that the word "podcast" simply means any MP3 or possibly even any sound file that is downloadable off a Web page. In fact, in one conversation, I explained what a podcast is, and mentioned that people usually subscribe to the feed so that they can hear the new podcasts as they come out. I was told "I don't think they'd want to subscribe to this. It's just a one-time thing." But that is exactly what a podcast is. Even though the term podcasting is fairly new, it still has a distinct meaning.
