I should really switch to mac. People have been trying to convince me, since I’m into design and it’s supposedly the “OS of choice” according to them. I don’t think I could live with a complex os like linux or unix. I tried a live CD once but I didn’t get very far.
How do you abstain from OSs? Can you use a computer that doesn’t have an OS?

Well – for hosting purposes, a Linux/Unix server is far more powerful – and cheaper – and more stable. I’d be inclined to believe the same about the OS, however when it comes to my computer itself, I like to work with what I know, and what has the most support and reliability – and that’s Windows.

I use Unix hosting… but on my computer I use my Mac OSX.
Back in ‘the day’ I use to say you’d never ever see me on a Mac. Then one day a few years ago (on a very expensive whim) I got a powerbook. After cursing at it for a couple days, while I adjusted to the differences between it and my old windows laptop, I decided I defiantly loved my Mac I’ve since replaced it with an iMac, and I don’t forsee ever switching back to a different OS… I

My computer is Windows, but I’ve always chosen a Linux server for hosting.
I have my main computer set up to dual boot to Windows or Linux, but I don’t have the desire to use Linux for day to day stuff. Linux may (or may not) be more stable, but I think Windows is far more usable for most people because of the better documentation and support.
I’ll have to try a Mac someday.

Phil, are you KIDDING us? You’re seriously asking if you can use a computer without an OS? A computer won’t even function without an OS!

Well, the computer will function without an OS, but only to set settings in the BIOS and then install the OS!
