Poll: How many monitors do you have on your primary computer?

Thursday October 18, 2007
check yes
Last week, I posted a poll asking how large a monitor do you have. And a number of people commented that they have 2 or more monitors. Since technically, having two 19-inch monitors doesn't equal having one 38-inch monitor, I'm now posting a poll to find out how many people use multiple monitors. No, I'm not asking how many monitors you have running in your office at one time - unless all 20 are hooked to the same computer! (And wow, what a setup that would be!) Again, I'm not asking if you design for multiple monitors, just if you use them. How do you use multiple monitors? If you could, would you get even more monitors?

How many monitors do you have on your primary computer? Remember, you can only vote once, so please read all the choices before you click one.

Shouldn’t the poll be ‘How many computers do you have on your monitor?’

Interesting that more than half say they use 2 monitors.
On a side note, Matt Cutts from Google shares his keyboard and mouse between 2 computers and 2 monitors. One uses XP and the other uses ubuntu linux. See it here:

I just recently added a second monitor after my brother added a second monitor to his comp. I saw how much easier it made things for him, so when I saw a free monitor sitting out on the side of the road, I grabbed it and it works perfectly.

For me, it really does make things a whole lot easier to manage.

How do you keep up with the the different graphic drivers and screen sizes? I normally just switch the display settings on the control panel between highest and lowest and code to meet both.

Even though I expected the number of those with two monitors in this poll to be higher than the population at large, I’m still surprised at how high that number is.

I have been using Multiple monitor since about 2000, I have found that after I got used to the amount of real estate I couldn’t go back to just one. I have two other machines that I use to view my pages on in different res. I just like the extra real estate.
