95 SEO tips and tricks

Tuesday February 5, 2008
There are lots and lots of things to think about when working on optimizing your site for search engine placement. So I've compiled a list of 95 things you should look at. Some are things that you should always do to keep your rank up, and some are things that you should never do. This list is organized in order of priority, so if you only do the high priority things, your site will rank better in search engines than if you did nothing.

And if that list is too long, I have created the list as an SEO checklist to print out so you can evaluate your pages more systematically.

Hey Guys,

While we’re on the topic about SEO in this older article, I figured that I would share a SEO tip that I recently discovered and wrote a very small blog article about. If your new to SEO you will definitely want to read this so you can begin getting all those one way link back’s that your going to need to increase your new web site’s page rank. There is no catch or advertisements or anything like that. I tested this method on two of my test websites and my PR raised by about +2 on each of them.

If you decide you would like to take a minute and read the small article, you may do so by following this link:

Good luck on your websites everyone, and let the google force be with you so to say, lol!

Angela: The problem with your suggestion, more than just that you can’t add custom text, is two-fold:

1. Most forums don’t provide really high page rank for specific subjects, so getting a link in there doesn’t boost you too much. Plus if your site is about baskets and you post that link in a fishing forum, it won’t do you any good at all and could seem like spamming to the SEO bot if you do it excessively.

2. Many forums are attempting to prevent that type of link spam by adding rel=”nofollow” to the link. You can see that in your comment post above. You got a backlink from my site, but to prevent comment spam, my system automatically places rel=”nofollow” into the link so that search engine robots won’t follow the link. Thus the backlink didn’t help you at all. (I hope you’re not disappointed…)

Used wisely, however, your suggestion could help get some backlinks. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi there, as a specialist in SEO i would like to add that if you are working on a linking strategy, the pagerank of the page your link is on must be seen as a bucket of water. If you have a link coming from a site with pagerank 8 and you are on a PR1 then a little of that 8 is thrown over to your site. This is the best i can describe it as. You can also read a great ebook called “SEO made easy” or you can download a free copy of
