What can you (legally) take from the Web

Wednesday April 9, 2008
As you already know, I'm very interested in how copyright law is being evaluated when it comes to Web pages. This article on IEEE Spectrum has some good advice for how to think about copyright as it applies to things you take from the Web.
"what you take, why you take it, who you are, and what technology you use are at least good starting points for ascertaining what you can and cannot legally take from the Web."
Most people think that it only matters what you take on the Web, but using these tips can help you be clearer about copyright infringement and how it's viewed in the courts.
