Poll: How many colors do you prefer in your color palettes?

Thursday April 10, 2008

Color is a very subjective aspect of Web design. Colors that I like, you might hate. While colors that you find hideous may be the perfect colors for a specific job. But when you create a color palette for a website, you are creating the template for the entire site. So it's important to come up with a limited set of colors. But how many is too many or too few?

Unless otherwise noted, in the poll I'm referring to a palette that includes black (#000) and white (#fff) by default. In other words, a 2-color palette would consist of four colors - the two colors in the palette, black, and white. I know that I didn't include every possibility of with and without black and white. If your preference isn't on the list, choose the closest to what you prefer. Also, while the actual choice of colors is typically up to the client, most designers have a preference as to how many should be in the palette, even if you're overruled by the client.
