Web design is more than just slapping images and text on a page

Design used to be managed by professionals who had studied graphic design, but as budgets get tighter, speed becomes more and more important, and Web pages are critical for businesses, designers are more likely to be an afterthought. The title of this article couldn’t be more true. However I would also suggest that a good web designer needs to have some interest and understanding of business and marketing, particularly if slef employed / freelance. They should be able to help a client identify specific purposes for the site and how that site will gain visitors. Whether a site cost £500 or £50 000 it’s wasted money if it achieves nothiong and gets no visitors. :)
