Firefox 3 - you going to get it?

Tuesday June 17, 2008
There is a goal to get a world record for downloads of Firefox 3. Spread Firefox is a site dedicated to, well, spreading Firefox. If you're not sure you want Firefox 3, check out the Firefox 3 preview on the About.com Browsers site. I'm going to get Firefox 3 - if only for Prism. My free download of Firefox 3 is done and ready to install. Yay!

Huge Firefox fan and I dig the thought of contributing to a world record, so, yes, just downloaded. When it gets *installed* is another matter entirely–probably not today.

The Firefox website wasn’t responding for ages after the release (6pm BST) - it just came up with a blank page. Was this a problem with too many downloads?

Done deal! Now it’s time to get my hubby’s computer updated, too. It took me awhile. I guess the downloading was delayed two hours because so many people were trying to access their servers. Then, forever, all I could get was the old 2.0 page. Once I got to the 3.0 page, the first three downloads were corrupt, but fourth time was a charm!
I think this will send a big message to IE! I can’t wait to see what kind of fanfare IE will pull to get IE8 out (this fall, I think).

What a surprise that their servers are overloaded! I’ll wait a couple of weeks to learn if there are any bugs one should avoid.

I tried the beta veison a couple of weeks ago. Very impressed with the rendering speed. Had a few issues with Flash plugin. I suspect it’s something to do with still haveing ff2.x installed. I’d be interested to know if anyone else has had this issue.

Yes, I downloaded this on download day and must say it is great! However, I am still trying to figure out why it crashes so much when I play flash/video….I have seen a lot of threads but cannot find an answer yet….Other than that, works great!

I gave it a shot. It is a very good piece of software. Still, I think I will stick with Opera 9.5 It’s just easier to use and it seems faster to me.

I so looked forward to the new FF3 coming but now I wish I never bothered! It’s awful….slows my whole system, eats up the CPU, closes randomly when only open for about a minute, it’s just the worst thing I did by installing the new version. It may be a free browser but I know other free browsers, very very similar and I’m switching!
