No math required - convert RGB to hex

While it's true that both Windows and Macintosh have calculators that make it possible to convert RGB to Hex and Hex to RGB, why use a calculator when you can just scan a chart. What gets really scary is when you start being able to convert RGB to hex just by looking at the numbers. That's how I can tell when I've been working on color schemes too long - when I start thinking that Christmas is on December 19 and my birthday is December 10. But most of the time, I just use the chart.

To each their own, I guess, but why use a chart when you can just use a bookmarklet?
Conversions are rarely necessary since both work equally well in html and css.

If you work in both print and the web, you really need to consider PMS colors to do the job right.

At the advice of a sign maker I work with, I purchased the Pantone Color Bridge/coated swatch book (approx $100 US) so I can convert colors from PMS to the web.

“PANTONEŽ COLOR BRIDGEŽ coated is an invaluable multi-use color reference tool. Use it to:

* select and specify solid PANTONE Colors on coated stock
* determine how a PANTONE Color will appear when reproduced in CMYK
* create optimal display of PANTONE Colors on monitors and Web pages.”
