It's almost Halloween, Don't Be Scared
Wednesday October 29, 2008
But it's hard not to be scared when you hear about some of the problems people go through while building websites. This month I received 3 horror stories of Web design and freelance Web development that would make most people scared (or at least cringe a little). Learn from their mistakes!
- Meta Description is Important
- Don't Just Read These Stories
- Promises Promises - a Letter to Joseph
If you've ever made a mistake when working on a Web design project, believe me, you're not alone. I've received 40 Horror Stories. Why not tell your story I promise not to post your name - unless you want me to.

Well, please don’t feel bad about it, I know something had got you busy, it’s not that big of a deal.
I’ve never done a dual-domain site with a cms from WordPress. All the frantic, fanatical attention to SEO is new. The video elements are new….so much was new I just wanted to be sure I got enough before launch, is all.
I did junk the idea of launching and then stitching in the cms, it’s simply stupid to go live on a hope, we all know better. Right now the site is hidden on a www server and the cms is being configured today. I hope to go live ten days late, it’s not my fault, getting input from the client is impossible.
Very soon I get the lovely experience of having the site owner realize we’re no long in test land, we are in fact live and anyone in the world can see it. At that point he will semi-freak and look at the site as he should have been weeks ago. [sigh] It’s all right, I recognize the type, I’m ready.
Stay well, Jennifer, and please don’t worry about this again. Good luck with the little one.
