I use Blue Host too and I never had any problems. I pay $ 4.95/month in the first year and second year $ 6.95/month and I have unlimited space and traffic and all services that I need. What do I want more? :-)

(2) Bob Barr says:

It might be mentioned that Bluehost (my provider), Hostmonster, and, most recently, Fastdomain are all part of the same parent company. While I’ve only dealt with Bluehost, I’d be quite willing to bet that Hostmonster and Fastdomain are every bit as good as Bluehost.

CEO Matt Heaton has a public blog and is very open about what’s happening at Bluehost.

(3) Jon says:

I’ve used Bluehost for a number of websites. Their features are unmatched for their price-point. On the flip-side, it is true that Bluehost overloads their servers with sites – which makes it hit-or-miss with your site ending up on a server that constantly goes down. Of all my sites, I had one site with a measured uptime of 67% (terrible), while my best site had a measured uptime of 98%. Hit or miss.

I strongly suggest anybody to run a trial version of Pingdom (measures server uptime) after they signup for any hosting, you may be surprised at how much your site goes down.

(4) decibel.places says:

I also use BlueHost for my personal website, although I plan to move it soon to Hot Drupal.

BH is not bad for basic hosting. They permit SSH, but I was unable to install ffmpeg (for video) and Subversion, and BH customer service told me these are not supported.

Two hosts to avoid like the plague:

1. StartLogic – besides 3 minute page loads (at other time 15 seconds) they changed the password on one of my databases and refused to help resolve it.

2. Webhostingpad – my client’s php/mysql WebDate platform just stopped working, and it appears the db connection is not working, we tried a fresh install, everything. They “fixed” it incorrectly. While many shared hosts pile 500 or so domains on each IP, Webhostingpad has a whopping 2000_ !

Webserve.ca Sucks!

Worst Host In Canada stay away

Webserve review two words: webserve sucks!

(6) Anna says:

Webserve.ca used to be quite good, but I cannot recommend them at all. In fall 2008, things went really awry with my website being down, ftp not working and support not available – the live support chat box never seemed to work or be manned. There are numerous complaints about this company on the web, especially when it comes to downtime and billing hijinks.
