Web Design Software Pick of the Week: HTML-Kit
Sunday July 5, 2009

HTML-Kit is a free Windows text editor that is very popular. In fact, every time I ask for suggestions for HTML editors, HTML-Kit is at or near the top of preferred tools. And this is understandable. It includes features like tag completion for HTML and CSS and helps you work with automatic block indenting, auto-save, line numbering and other features you expect from a good text editor. The biggest drawbacks are that it doesn't have a lot of support for scripting, XML, and special characters. Oh, and it's not available for Macintosh. But for Windows users, this is a great program.

I have to agree about Html-Kit being near or at the top and I would murmur a little “hmmm” about special characters when first starting to use this excellent piece of software that is of course, until I checked out this link

Yes, they got a 0.5 score for special characters because they have a plugin for them. If the program has it built-in then they get a full point.
