Poll: What are you going to work on in 2010 to improve your Web design skills?

Thursday December 31, 2009

The exciting thing about Web design is that there is always something new to learn. As you may already know, I have pledged to design something every day. I am focusing on drawing, as it is the basis of all design. But I also want to learn more CSS 3, get better at building Joomla! and Drupal templates, and learn more about ecommerce.

Luckily, if you're going to work on improving your Web design skills in 2010, you've come to the right place. I have email classes on HTML, CSS, Web design, and XML. I have written many articles on ecommerce, marketing Web pages, web server management, and many other topics. Plus, there are entire About.com sites devoted to JavaScript, PHP and MySQL, and lots of other technology topics.

If 2010 is the year that you are going to get serious about learning to build Web pages, then you've got all the resources you need right here.

I actually checked all of them.

I’m thinking of buying some literature on ASP.NET and Java to complement my PHP and C++ knowledge. I also need to get better at SQL.

I want to learn about the new Web Workers, to study all the depths of the new CSS3 and HTML5 specifications. get my head around coding e-commerce software, and designing it. Getting better at typography would also be important for me.

I have some other projects that would involve learning the differences between different OSs.

Looks like a long year.

JQuery. Definitely JQuery. It’s trendy and it works. Also Joomla, Wordpress or other multipurpose CMS. Very powerful tools.
