Poll: How many Web hosting companies have you used?

It would be great if we could find the perfect hosting company and then never switch, but most of us are not that lucky on our first try. And sometimes you might be happy with your host, but a client wants to use a different one or you need a feature from some other host for a site. Personally, I have switched hosting providers around 6 times for my personal sites. If you include customer hosting companies, it's much larger.

Question #1-2: How often does your site go down and for how long.
Question #3: What are hours of phone support.
Question #4: How long do you wait on hold.
Question #5: How many hours to get email reply.
Question #6: Slow loading is always blamed on you so do you know how to test the host speed?
Question #7: If you ever had to cancel did your host cancel or keep billing you.

I like Hostmonster. I rarely have to talk to them, but I always get immediate response on the telephone, and their tech support guys are knowledgeable and are native-born English speakers.

(6) Bob says:

I’ll agree with Don. I’ve used Hostmonster’s sister company, Bluehost for about four years now and they are terrific.

I’m currently using HostGator, Lunarpages, and IX Web Hosting. LP and IX have issues once in a while but with HostGator I’ve had zero problems in the year and a half I’ve been with them.

I just thought that would make it quite clear to anyone who is thinking of moving hosting companies and is worried about down time for their website, DO NOT WORRY!

There is a process you can go through that means your site will not be affected in any way, with your search rankings or downtime.

With this in mind you now know that if your hosting company is starting to slack on their resposibilties to you that you can move with no effects to your site.

Hosting companies beware, look after your customers or face loosing them!
