Do you use Web editors (both WYSIWYG and text editors), other Web design software, an iPhone, iPad, or Android phone when working on websites? Do you read Web design books? If you do any of these things, I'd love to know your thoughts on their applications for Web designers. Are there software applications, cell phone apps, or books that are terrible and no one should buy? What about those books or apps that are so good that they should be mandatory for every Web designer?

Please click one of the links above to provide your valuable review and star rating. Please don't try to comment on this post - we really need your star ratings. Comments have been turned off. Your star ratings for various software and books will be used to compile a list of the most popular apps, books, and software for Web designers.

I recommend a few books from OReilly books, CSS by Eric Meyer and JavaScript “the definitive guide” by David Flanagan. Both are excellent reference books but the CSS one is an excellent read for anyone learning how to properly style their designs.

I love the “Head First” series of books. Right now I’m working thru Head First Javascript, and Head First PHP & MySql. It makes everything really easy to learn.

As far as web editors… Every WYSIWYG editor adds ugly extra code. The only editor I use is Notepad++ and I LOVE it. =)
