Mailto forms are a popular way to get simple forms up on websites quickly. They are great because they are so easy to use and require no programming to do - just an email address. Yes as rightly pointed out in this article mailto forms are very hit and miss. They are great for beginners but in my opinion should never be used for business purposes, they are fraught with problems and could lose clients.
I don’t like being on web sites where they trigger the email client, which is what these do. They are no good for people using the likes of hotmail, Yahoo and other web based clients.
