I’ve worked with a lot of freelancers over the years, both as a co-worker and as a hiring manager. And while many of my freelancing friends are very successful, many have had to quit freelancing as they couldn’t make a go of it. And when I’ve asked them why they’ve found it so hard, most of them blame the competition (too much or too cheap), the economy the recession), or even the clients (they aren’t hiring). But that doesn’t explain how my other friends are doing well, charging a living wage and often have more clients than they can handle.
In my experience, the biggest barrier to success for most freelance web designers is themselves. This article talks about some of the most common ways that freelancers sabotage themselves and lose clients befor they’ve even landed them.
