HTML tables may seem a bit old fashioned to designers who are used to creating web pages using CSS, but the reality is that there are still lots of uses for tables, even if you don't use them for layout. Tables are a great way to store many types of information, and by understing the basic table elements as well as at least being aware of the additional ones can give you a powerful tool in your design toolbox.
