Poll: How big a monitor do you use?

Thursday October 11, 2007
check yes
No, I'm not asking what you design for, I'm asking you what you use to build your Web pages. For example, I have two 20-inch monitors set up in dual-screen mode. I love my big monitors, and with two, I don't even crave the 30-inch monitors (much), but they do block the view from my window. If you were to buy a new monitor today, what would you buy?

How big a monitor do you use? Remember, you can only vote once, so please read all the choices before you click one.

I use two 17 inch monitors (one rotated). A shame there wasn’t a vote for multi monitors, although I realise the permutations would have been enormous.

I second the dual monitor option. I use a 17 inch and a 22 inch. (For the poll, I chose the larger one.)

Ditto on the lack of selection of dual monitors - I said 19″ but really have 38″ (dual 19’s).
Bad survey!

Not a bad survey! :-)

I stated in the explanation text that I personally use two monitors. I choose the 20″ because that’s the size of my primary.

Our polling system only allows a maximum of 10 choices. And frankly if you had the option of every possible monitor and monitor combination out there you’d take all day just scrolling through the choices.

These survey’s are not intended to be scientific, they’re meant to be FUN! And that’s why I usually have an “other” choice - so you can say what you have that isn’t on there. That doesn’t make the survey bad, it makes it fit in the parameters of the tool.

Good morning,

I use two 19″ in dual monitor setup. I can’t even remember how I managed to work with just one screen…

(9) Paul says:

I was considering using dual 19″ monitors, but decided on 1 large screen because I do a lot of photo editing and don’t want to deal with a big split down the center of my images.
My new 24″ monitor has a resolution of 1920×1200 in one continuous space. Using 2 19’s both rotated to portrait would have given me a slightly larger total resolution of 2048×1280, but with a big gap down the middle. The cost was almost the same. It was a no brainer for me.

(10) qawex says:

I use 4 monitors. 2 on a windows XP box and two on a linux box running LAMP. The two on the XP box are 19″ and the two on the linux box 17″. The two 19s are for development, the 17s for monitoring live sites and handling emails.

(11) Peter Forsberg says:

I have no idea how many inches my monitor is. I work with pixels only and my monitor is 1024 px wide.
