The Homesite CodeSweeper allows you to convert HTML that has been created by someone else into HTML that you are comfortable with. The CodeSweeper "sweeps" the HTML into the indenting and formatting you like. It works the same way as HTMLTidy.

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 5 minutes

Here's How:

  1. Open the HTML file you would like to clean up.
  2. Click on the "Tools" Menu, scroll down to "CodeSweeper" and choose "Default CodeSweeper".
  3. Click on "Run CodeSweeper", and your code will be converted to the default indenting and formatting.
  4. If you like the way this formatting looks, then click on the "Don't ask me again" check box.
  5. If you don't like how it looks, follow the instructions on the How to Create a New CodeSweeper template to modify the template to do what you want.

Tips:

  1. Use the Homesite CodeSweepers to keep your HTML and XHTML standard and easy to read.
  2. Standardized CodeSweepers in a Web development team keeps the XHTML standard and reliable.
  3. Homesite CodeSweepers are very similar to the program HTMLTidy.
