Upload Files and Web Pages to GeoCities

By Jennifer Kyrnin, About.com

Web pages can't be seen if they live on your hard drive. Learn how to get them from there to your Web server.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: 10 minutes

Here's How:

  1. Go to http://geocities.yahoo.com/ and login to your GeoCities account.
  2. In the "Advanced Toolbox", click on "File Manager".
  3. Then click on "Open File Manager".
  4. Click on the "upload files" button.
  5. Click on "Browse..." to search your hard drive for the files to upload.
  6. Click on "Upload Files" to transfer the files to GeoCities.
  7. Click on "Return to File Manager" to see your file.

Tips:

  1. If you upload files with the same name as existing files on your Web site, the new files will over write the old ones.
  2. You can upload up to 5 files by default, change the number to display by choosing from the drop-down menu and clicking "Display".
  3. If you run on a Windows machine, it might be a good idea to check the "automatically convert filenames to lowercase". This insures that you won't have problems with the filenames once they are on your Web site.
