Use CSS to Convert Spacer Images

By , About.com Guide

When you are converting an existing HTML page to HTML+CSS or XHTML you will usually come across single pixel images used as spacers throughout the document. While these images are small, they do take up space within the document, and they are easily replaced by CSS margin and padding styles.

When you convert your document, just remove these images completely and note the space they are holding so that you can use margins and padding to replace them.
