Why won't my edits show up on my live Web site?

By Jennifer Kyrnin, About.com

Question: Why won't my edits show up on my live Web site?

Answer:

The most common reason why edits won't show up on a Web site after you've uploaded them is because of a server or local cache. In order to speed up a Web site, many servers use a cached copy of pages to display quickly when they are requested.

To determine if your page is cached locally, you should clear the cache and then reload the document. If the page hasn't changed, then it may be cached at the server level. Most cached Web servers have the cache refreshed on a regular basis. If you believe that your server has cached your document, then I would contact the administrator for your Web server and ask what the schedule is for refreshing the cache.
