This book is excellent for designers who want to improve their CSS skills. It goes through the basics of CSS to advanced topics with fluidity and ease. Highly recommended.

Designing Web Usability

Web usability is the art of simplifying your site - and this book is invaluable.

Dreamweaver MX 2004 Magic

This book has a lot of great projects with super ideas for improving your Dreamweaver Web site, but be sure to test everything on multiple browsers before you publish. This is not a book for learning advanced techniques, as the solutions are primarily found in the CD and not defined in the book itself.

Dreamweaver MX Hands on Training

If you learn by doing and you want to learn Dreamweaver, then this book is a must-have.

Dreamweaver MX: The Missing Manual

Unless you're comfortable learning a new program with minimal documentation, this book is important to pick up. Dreamweaver is a very powerful program.

Dynamic HTML 2nd edition

I don't often like the idea of one size fits all, but if you have to have just one reference on DHTML, this should be your book. It doesn't go into as much detail as more specialized book, but what it covers it covers well.

Essential Blogging

If you're already into blogging, this book provides more of what you love. If you are not into blogging, this book can help you get started.

While a bit older, this book covers all you need to know about Netscape dynamic HTML.

Learning Perl

This is a great book for programmers who already know another language and would like to pick up Perl quickly.

If you want to learn HTML or how to build a Web page, this book is the perfect first choice. It is easy to read and doesn't talk down to you. And it covers everything from beginning to advanced topics in the same clear style.

Learning Web Design

This is a really good beginners HTML book that doesn't talk down to the reader, and has all the information you need to create a Web page.

Learning XML

This is a great introductory book on XML. It clearly explains the language and will leave you hungry to get started on your documents.

Net Words

The Web is words, but most Web sites seem to forget this. This book covers all you need to get and create great copy for your Web site.

Official Guide to Programming with CGI.pm

This book is not for beginning Perl scripters, but once you're comfortable with writing CGIs with Perl, you will find that CGI.pm will help you to write CGIs more quickly.

Paging the Web

A bit pricey, but good for visual learners and absolute beginners.

Perl for Dummies

If what you're looking at is a more lighthearted approach to learning Perl, then you should check out this book.

Perl in a Nutshell

If you can get only one book on Perl, get this book.

Photoshop for the Web

A good book for Web designers who are not graphic artists first and foremost.

PHP and MySQL for Dynamic Web Sites

This is less a book about mySQL and PHP than it is a book about creating dynamic Web applications. But you'll learn PHP and mySQL in the process.

PHP Pocket Reference

A great reminder book for developers who are already familiar with PHP.

Programming Perl

This book, written by the author of Perl, has everything you need to konw about the language.

Return on Design

Many beginning Web designers forget to think about the Web as a business. This book covers the issues behind running a Web site as a business endeavor and actually seeing a return on that investment.
