Jennifer Kyrnin’s Review of The Modern Web

This is not a book for the faint of heart. If you’re not interested in creating modern web pages that use the most modern aspects of web design—HTML5, CSS3, and advanced JavaScript features. You might think this book can’t be that because this book is only a couple hundred pages long that it can’t have a lot of information in it. But you would be wrong. There is a lot in this book, and while you don’t need to be a web professional to get something out of this book, you do need to know basic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and you need to be willing to give up old, outdated ways of building websites.

The biggest challenge with this book is that so much information is presented very quickly. You’ll get the most out of it if you take the time to try all the examples in your own web pages. Don’t be hesitant about trying new things, even if you’ve never done them before. And remember you can always get more help on this website for everything you learn in this book.

What I like best about this book is how comprehensive it is for its size. There is so much about modern web design to learn, and this book gives you a taste for all of it. It is just a taste, but every chapter includes a bunch of resources for you to get more information. Plus, there is also the last appendix to get still more information.
