What is CSS?

By Jennifer Kyrnin, About.com

Question: What is CSS?

Answer:

CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets. It is a language that allows Web developers to associate style properties with HTML tags, XHTML elements, and even XML.

CSS allows the designer to affect nearly every aspect of the look and feel of a Web document. It also can affect the way a document is printed or spoken, depending upon the context of the style sheet.
