Dreamweaver makes it easy to change the doctype of a document quickly. When you start editing a Dreamweaver document, you can change the doctype. But if you use the wrong one, or want to update your pages later, it's simple to change the doctype again.
Once you've changed the doctype, you can use Dreamweaver to validate the document against that doctype. This is one way to convert your HTML documents to XHTML.
