Frames are a popular way to make navigation easier to maintain on a Web site. FrontPage makes it easy to build a framed Web page.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: 5 minutes
Here's How:
- Open FrontPage and select "New page" from the "File" menu. You cannot create a framed page without going into the "File" menu.
- Click on the "Frames Pages" tab.
- Review the frames options, and choose the frame page that is closest to what you would like to create.
- Click OK.
- For each frame, choose whether to use an existing Web page "Set initial page..." or create a new Web page "New page".
- Review the "No Frames" area to be sure that it says what you would like it to say. It is a good idea to include a link to your main page in the no frames area.
Tips:
- Always include a
area. This is the section of the page that search engines will see, and it should have information so that they can view it. - While it's not required, it's a good idea to add in the and tags at the beginning and end of the document.
- Frames require that you create additional HTML pages. Learn more about creating HTML frames in my Introduction to HTML Frames article.
