Create an Image Map With FrontPage

By Jennifer Kyrnin, About.com

Image maps are images with "hot spots" that are clickable and take your readers to other Web pages.

Difficulty: Average
Time Required: 5 minutes

Here's How:

  1. Add an image to your Web page.
  2. Click on the image.
  3. Click on a hotspot drawing tool from the drawing tool menubar. You can create a rectangle, circle, or polygon for your hotspot.
  4. Draw the shape you want on your image.
  5. Choose the page or URL you would like that spot to link to.
  6. Click OK.
  7. To set the default URL, right click on the image.
  8. Choose "Picture Properties" and type in a URL in the "Default hyperlink" box.
  9. Click OK.

Tips:

  1. You don't have to have a default hyperlink.
  2. It's always a good idea to preview your image map to make sure it acts as expected.
