FrontPage has a tool to allow you to include variables within your Web site that will update your entire Web site every time you change the variable in one place. These are called parameters.

Difficulty: Average
Time Required: 10 minutes

Here's How:

  1. Open the Web site in FrontPage that you want to add the parameter to.
  2. In the "Tools" menu, choose "Web Settings" and click on the "Parameters" tab.
  3. Put the name of your variable in the "Name" box, and the value of your variable in the "Value" box. The click "OK".
  4. Place your cursor where you want the new variable item to display on the page.
  5. Go to the "Insert" menu and click on "Web Component".
  6. In the left panel, click "Included Content" and then on the right panel, double click "Substitution".
  7. Find your variable in the drop-down list and select it. Click "OK".
Instead of your variable, the actual content will appear in your Web page.
  8. Change the content of the variable by doing steps 1-3.

Tips:

  1. The page in FrontPage won't necessarily update immediately after you change a variable. But they do change on your site.
  2. If you want to see the updates, close the page in question and re-open it.
