Frames are a popular way to make navigation easier to maintain on a Web site. Adobe GoLive makes it easy to create a framed Web page.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 5 minutes
Here's How:
- Create each of the HTML pages that will be the actual frame contents, one page for every frame.
- Open a new page in GoLive.
- Click on the Frame Editor tab at the top of the new document window.
- Open the objects window, type Ctrl+2 if it's not already open, and click on the frames palette.
- Choose the frame layout you want, and drag it to the new document.
- Click on the first frame, and open the Inspector window (type ctrl+1 if it's not open).
- Click on the yellow file icon and browse to the HTML page for that frame.
- Give the frame a name, and validate the height, width, and other options.
- Repeat from step 6 for every other frame in the set.
- Click on the Layout tab at the top of the frameset window, and type in your noframes content.
Tips:
- Always include a
area. This is the section of the page that search engines will see, and it should have information so that they can view it. - While it's not required, it's a good idea to add in the and tags at the beginning and end of the document.
- Frames require that you create additional HTML pages. Learn more about creating HTML frames in my Introduction to HTML Frames article.
