Spelling is important and so is getting full support for your project. Don't make the same mistakes EeeepersCreepers made.

The joke was on me. I was googling a famous person I once worked with and to my big surprise, a page where I mentioned my work with him came up FIRST in Google. My head inflated instantly and I pranced around the room singing "I AM the best!!" Then, I looked at the other poor stooges down a few pages, including Mr. Famous's official website.....and guess what I figured out? I spelled Mr. Famous's name wrong! That's why my page came up first! I found that I was not alone in my spelling quirks, many people distinguished themselves with other variations I never would have thought of, and they too were first in their field. This made me realise you can tumble into a bad-spelling paralell virtuel world pretty easily.

My other horror story is not as funny. My partner and made a proposal to I spent 4 months re-design a large website as part of a public event. It was presented to the town counsel who liked our project and funded a local gallery who would host our workshop. We spent 4 months working. When the time came to present our workshop, many things changed at the last minute and we were asked to front the money for some of our equipment and salaries, and extend our workshop from a weekend to a month. We trusted our host and fulfilled our mission, but at the end, we found out that the Gallery spent our funds on other projects. We then found out the town counsel were volunteers and were not employees of the town. It was imossible to find anyone to accept responsibilty and we only recieved a third of our funds. My advice is, if you ever do a project which receives funding, be sure to have something in writing from all participating levels. When there is a chain of command, it is easier for people to "pass the buck" up and down the chain and avoid direct responsibility.
