It's always a good idea to learn about the specs of your client's before you start building the site. As Jon found out, not everyone browses with the most recent browser (or even the second most recent...).

I had been out of webdesign for a long while, and was enticed back in by money and a friend in need(bad bad combination)Anyway secured a domain name, hosting package with eshop and set about the design...I mean how hard can it be for a old html warhorse like me? mmmmmm .css proved tricky but I got there...tags I knew and loved..deprecated...much argument about the style(I hated the colour)finally settled for a .css layout, java navbar and alls well. I checked the site in all common browsers and launched. Sat back in a rosy glow!!! Until the phone call, my friend had showed the site to clients and then asked "Why does it look like a bag of #*#£!!!" Somewhat taken aback I checked, no problems, looks good? Well it looked good unless you were using IE6,5.5,5, they don't believe in updating windows on a regular basis his clients? I now use browsershots every step of the way.
