If you bill by the hour, you need a way to keep track of the time you spend on various projects. There are many different time tracking apps for the iPhone. Some are conected to online services while others are strictly in the phone itself. Here are some of the apps I've looked at in order of price.
Easy TimeSheet Lite

Easy TimeSheet Lite is the free version of Easy TimeSheet. It makes it easy to track the time you spend on a project, and includes things like the rate you're charging per hour and information about the project. You can't email your time cards from the lite version, and you can only track one project at a time. But if you like this time tracker, you can buy the full version.

Invotrak

Invotrak is an invoice tracking and timesheet app. It connects with the online site invotrak.com. If you create and send 2 invoices a month or less, the service is free with graduated pricing for other levels. If you only have 1 or 2 clients and you don't send a lot of invoices, this is a great tool. And you can use the timesheet tracker to connect to your invoices.

iTimeSheet Lite

iTimeSheet Lite is the free version of iTimeSheet. It allows you to track time on projects very quickly and efficiently. It does not allow you to export the data out of your iPhone. If you need that or analytics, you should upgrade to the full version.

iZepto

iZepto is a time tracking tool for businesses, specifically for timesheets within a company. This app connects with the iZepto.com website. The iZepto account is free for 1-3 users and goes up in price the more people at your company who use the time tracker. But you can use the system for free if you're the only one at your company using it.

Streamtime

Streamtime is an iPhone time tracker that connects with your Streamtime time server. This is perfect for companies that already use the Streamtime server or are considering it. But if you don't or you are a small business, you will probably find the cost of a Streamtime server prohibitive.

WorkTimer Lite

WorkTimer Lite is the free version of WorkTimer. It allows you to track multiple projects and works even if you aren't in the app. It does not categorize the projects by client, nor will it email reports.

WorkTimer is the paid version of WorkTimer Lite. It supports different categories of project so you can track specific clients and how much time you spend on various projects for them. It will also email reports.
This app costs $0.99.
Clockedin
Clockedin provides an easy way to track your tasks, projects, and personal goals throughout the day. You can email the daily totals and project totals as well as look at historical details. You can even edit the task start and end time.
This app costs $2.99.

Timely
Timely is less a project timer and more a motivational tool. The idea behind it is to tell you how much money you've earned as you're working. You tell it how much you make per hour and then you when "clock in" it starts counting up the money you're earning.
