Comments from developer: I like to build a site with notepad for the html and topstyle for the css. On this site I 'cheated' a bit and made the pictures sit in a table, - I thought it would be quicker than doing it in css, but I may change it later. Do you think the site is to heavy because of the many images? I thought I needed them to create the exotic atmosphere.
Comments from Jennifer Kyrnin: When I reviewed the page size, it came out as 61KB total to download. This is a little bit large, but not excessive. The largest image is the headline image - and while you probably do need something like it to set the mood of the page - I would look at removing the text from it and using only the beach image (made as small as possible) as a background. However, it looks like you're using image replacment to replace the h1 text with that banner, which at least makes it somewhat accessible. Unfortunately, the only other heading tags you have on the page are another h1 and an h6. This makes the page hard to outline and so harder for customers to skim. This page is also very wide, with a lot of white space on the edges. While the white space implies freedom and relaxation, the width of the page places a horizontal scroll bar for people with browsers 1024x768 and smaller. Finally, don't forget that since you have a stats counter at the bottom of the page, if that site is down for any reason, it can impact how long your page takes to load. When I first went to your site, the counter caused a long delay before the hourglass went away - and it was not clear to me at first why I had to wait.
