Comments from developer: I completely endorse using basic text editors when required, but I also believe in using an IDE when convenient. I know that this is not xHTML complient to it's fullest, but I take a lot of pride in that fact that it works across many browswers (including Konquer). I had to deal with the owner of the company, dipping into the content. There was no choice! However, I got it as close to xHTML compliant as possible. I'm very proud of this as a part-time job.
Comments from Jennifer Kyrnin: This site does a great job of pulling in the style of typical conference Web sites, while adding in touches to make it fit with the subject - nanotechnology. The black background on the left and right columns makes those areas disappear for me, which could be dangerous if really important information is held there. Remember that these areas of a 3-column layout are often completely ignored by customers, and since black text on white is much easier to read than white text on black, this site might suffer from that. The only other issues I have with this site are how busy the background image is at the top - makes the sub-head hard to read. And the large amounts of whitespace at the very top of the main text column. The presenter logos are much more prominent than the offer to learn the basics of nanotech for free.
