Comments from developer: The web design process was challanging, and this site was my first big one. I did have help with the programming. Overall, it should be a big hit with our google keywords for seo, and the images are very sharp. As for the black background, it wasnt my first choice, but hey, we cant win them all.
Comments from Jennifer Kyrnin: If the goal of this site is to be optimized for search engines, then there are a few more steps that need to be taken. I would change a lot of the div tags into the correct tags for those sections. For example, instead of divs to divide every paragraph, use paragraph tags. Instead of divs with the class subhead, use heading tags. And don't forget to use h1 for the page title and h2 for the sub-titles. Finally, I'd look at moving away from tables for layout, so that you can put the most important parts of the page first in the HTML. Beyond the SEO issues, I'd look at the black background. It works fine because it's not the whole site, but because the black background is on the navigation, I'd look at changing the text in those links from all-caps to capitalized. All-caps is very hard to read, and navigation should be as easy as you can make it.
