osCommerce can send email messages to your customers. It can even send a newsletter to a newsletter list. But in order to do that you need to configure the email options in the "E-Mail Options" section of the configuration area. You can configure:
- Transport method - usually sendmail
- Email linefeeds
- Whether to send HTML email
- Whether to verify email addresses by DNS
- Whether osCommerce should send emails at all
