Most Web sites have four basic types of Web pages:
- Content Pages
- Product Pages
- Information Pages
- Navigation Pages
Each of these pages serve a different purpose on the Web site and have different looks to them. Once you understand what the purpose of a page is, some of the design decisions are made for you. For example, you don't need a large product picture on a copyright information page, and a content page that is just a list of links wouldn't be very interesting.
The following gallery shows you several Web pages and asks you to guess what type of page it is. Whether or not you guess right you'll learn more about what makes the page the type of page it is and how to recognize those page types in the future.
