In this example, you can see that there are relationships between the various elements on the banner. Unity helps you help your customers understand what elements are related and go together. This makes the banner easier to read.
Some of the things I did with this banner to improve it include:
- I made the dog photo slightly smaller and slid it off the edge, to give the banner some texture.
- By moving the paw prints to the bottom of the photo, that gives them a relationship to the dog that makes sense.
- I enlarged the title "White Dog Designs" and aligned it with the edge of the paw prints. I also gave the title a drop shadow to make the white text contrast more with the lighter background.
- Then when I put the tag line below the title, I aligned that with the title, but kept it in close proximity to the title, so that it was clear that they were related.
- Finally, I put the contact information (phone numbers and email) down in the lower right, aligned with the edge of the title. This pulls them together aa a group, and since their font size is slightly smaller than the tag line which grants the title and tag line more prominence.
There are many other ways the first banner design could be improved. How would you do it? Can the elements in the banner be combined in other ways to say something different about this design company?
