go-daddy the ""oops your domain has expired ripoff, Member toxlevel

it is confusing because you have hosting and domains set up with the various partners of each other, domains priced right and go-daddy. each of which proclaim to be independant companies offering the same services of each other, but each have complete access to each others records. the person at domains priced right was straight forward and informative. but go-daddy, through proxy, will sit on any expired domain and act as though it has been purchased by another entity. list it as a premium domain name and offer to sell it for 15 times the original price. when it expires, they will not allow you the opportunity to simply buy it again but claim that the grace period, which questionably was not granted you is imposed. when the grace period expires, you supposedly can buy it back, but they will offer you a back order for a fee ($23-30) that will automatically snag it for you when and if it becomes available. this service is supposed to but did not notify me when it became available, though the auction price kept dimishing after the expiration date had passed. when the auction ends (i was not notified despite having paid $23.99 for back order and monitoring) and because you have already purchased a back order, they know that you are interested. now a broker is available for $69 + commission to approach the owner (go-daddy) through proxy and then you get to attempt to buy your name back through them for as much money as they feel like they can ask for. so, rather than allowing the market to these domains to float, they, through proxy are posing as a third party buyer, other than themselves, who just happens to have been waiting in the wings until this hot property, your domain name, expires and snags it, but is willing to sell it to you for a nominal fee. it is my contention that go-daddy is the other buyer, you pay for a backorder to go-daddy, you pay a brokerage fee and commission to go-daddy and the price of the domain name through proxy... all goes to go-daddy and rather than getting your domain name back with a late fee or predisclosed penalty, you have to deal with the charade that you are dealing with some anonymous purchaser of your domain name. totally bogus. but that is the price of doing business with this group.
