Disappointing interaction with representative., Member mghoglund
After an unsatisfactory experience with the person who answered my call about someone accessing my computer without my permission, I was told by the representative that Omnitech had not accessed my computer. They had. He insisted that they had not. Before our conversation was over, I was suddenly able to access my own computer and proceded to take care of my own business on line. Later,as I was typing, my computer was again accessed by Omni-tech right in the middle of my own typing. Not only did they shut it down, but I was then unable to gain access to anything. First there was the denial that Omnitech had even accessed my computer. Since I had no proof that they had, indeed, accessed my computer without my permission, there wasn't much I could do. The second time, however, I had taken photos of the pages with the name, the logo, etc. clearly showing, including the message: ""Log MeIn Remote Session."" When confronted with that bit of information the representative on the phone told me that the tech was performing routine maintenance that I had scheduled. I had not. And he already knew that, thanks to our earlier conversation when we had agreed that I would call a supervisor, whose name and number he had given me, the next day. I, in fact, assumed that the new interruption of my work on the computer was a form of harrassment. The whole business, a few hours worth at least, left me very upset. I felt and continue to feel that I cannot trust them, at least I cannot trust what they say to be the truth, or to be an accurate explanation of just what is going on. The whole exchange was further hampered by the language barrier (his accent). When I asked where he was physically, I was told in CA. I challenged that and asked if he was in India. He said he is Asian, but insisted he was in CA. I was never sure if he was deliberately lying to me or if he was telling me as best he could, with his limited mastery of the English language, what was going on from the Omnitech position. After the blatant lie that Omnitech had not accessed my computer since December 15, 2011, when I knew that they had ... their logo, etc., was all over the pages that I had been looking at, even while I was still talking to the young man who had answered the phone. The whole experience has left me extremely unhappy with this company.
