FOXE or First Object XML Editor is a free WYSIWYG XML editor. You can edit your XML documents right in the tree view and not even have to work with the tags at all if you don’t want to. But this is primarily an XML editor. While you can edit XHTML documents in it, you will be giving up a lot of features that come with HTML editors. But if you do a lot of editing of XML files this might be an editor to check out.
