Primary Computer

I use an older Toshiba Satellite A105 laptop computer with the wide LCD screen purchased in 2007, but it was already last years' model.

Primary Software

Currently, my computer has Linux 10.04 LTS but it will be updated next April of 2011. Kernel 2.6.32-24 generic with GNOME 2.30.2 as part of my Ubuntu package. Installed are all the available Linux drivers and necessary software compatible for what I need. Of course, there is some specialized Windows software that I may not have privileges for, but that seems to change with each new version of Linux. My mail server is Windows Hotmail. I use Gimp graphics and I have the Intel WiFi drivers necessary. Flash is installed with other graphics software. It had been a Windows computer ,but I didn't want to buy all the new software necessary to remain valid. I also have a Windows XP Pro computer but I don't use it for Web Design. Bluetooth is installed but I don't use it.

What I'd Do Differently

  • Maybe some alternative OS emulators. But I may have a facsimile and not even know it. Presently, my computer will do all that I need, but I am just getting started. I'm sure that I will upgrade in the future if I can establish myself in the Web Design field. I want to stay with Linux.

Input Devices (Mouse, Tablet, Trackball)

I use the built - in touch pad, but I also have a USB mouse if I want to use it. Sometimes I do, but not usually. The Intel Pro wireless card connects to most sites with little difficulty. My CD / DVD drive can be useful too.

Monitor Size and Number

15.4 in. WXGA TFT 1280 x 800 Active Matrix

Other Peripherals

160 GB Hard Drive
