Why I think this design works

I think the design works because it is clean. My design style is very clean and uncluttered. I try not to add anything that is not needed or will not add to the design. The colors are bright with some black thrown in, but the paragraphs are all on white with a dark grey text to make it easier on the eyes when scanning the page.

I utilize plenty of white space which is important in any design. Line height is also generous so as not to make a cluttered mess of the verbiage on the page. All too often not enough thought is given to white space, padding and line height.

Although there are a number of images on the page, they are spread out and are all driven by css as background images. When you disable the css styles on my page, all that is left is my logo and text that is formatted using h tags and p tags; very readable for search engines and text readers.

The test is key word rich and readable, not just a bunch of keywords on a page that make no sense when a “human” reads it. The slides at the top of the page are background images with editable text that is also key word and key phrase rich. Spider and human food…

I hope you enjoy my design and what I have showing in my portfolio so far. I hope to finish that up soon.

Feedback is welcome!

Tips and Tricks

  • Finish it for one thing!
  • Add more items to my portfolio. I guess this is part of the first suggestion. I have more, I just need to take the time to add them.
  • Speed...I think the page load time needs to be reduced

Jennifer Kyrnin, Web Design / HTML Guide, says:

This website is very nice. It doesn't do anything particularly new or innovative in terms of design, but it does showcase some of the popular trends right now (dark header, white main area, rounded corners, fat footer, rotating banner, and so on). My only issue with all this is that the site is for a graphic design company, and I would have hoped for more innovation in a firm dedicated to design. But clients like popular things.
