Why I think this design works

Each page has its own theme to match, as much as possible, the content. For example, the index page has "The Earth in Space" as the logo with the same graphic as a link to return to the index page.

Each individual page has a theme to match, as much as possible, with the topic of the page. For example, the Geology page has a rocky background while the Astronomy page has a starry background.

The entry page, www.rockystar.com, Is titled,

" Rocky Star Science on the Web...Where Science is fun!"

and is designed for various age groups. It was originally designed for classes I taught at a community college but grew into what it is today.

Tips and Tricks

  • Improve the JavaScripts.
  • Revive the science pictures of the day for Astronomy, Biology, Environmental Science, Geography, Historical Geology, and Physical Geology. They were unknown pictures that I used in my classes where the students had one week (Mon-Fri) to give me a written answer as to what the image was.
  • Revive the links to keep anyone interested to be able to find the most recent information about a science topic.

I Built this Web Page (yes or no)

Yes

Jennifer Kyrnin, Web Design / HTML Guide, says:

This is a fun site with a lot of interesting content. But the design can somewhat get in the way. The blue text on the dark background is very hard to read. There are also a lot of scripts on the page that make things move or change, almost at random. This can be distracting, as can the animated images.
