Pre-Loading Images to Help Inner Pages Load Faster

Lunsford Illustration, just getting the final tweaks in

What's In My Web Editor Right Now

This is an illustration site promoting portfolios, resume and contact information. I have completed all pages; as far as, complete portfolios and linking. I'm tweaking the pre-loading of images and various SEO techniques so style sheets and header information remain unfinished at this time.

What I'm Doing

Compact design, large images with speedy load times and browser compliance (W3C) as always. Design focuses on ease of use for the viewer and providing contact information at every turn. I plan on distributing pre-loaded images for "1st time page loads" coming in at odd pages within the site; i.e., planning for a viewer to enter the site from somewhere other than the home page...

I also plan on extending pages in length just to compensate for vertical scrolling (keeping my header, etc. in the same place from page to page...

Tips and Tricks

  • CSS image preloads, degradable javascript, all "tricks" are CSS so as to be viewable for most any browser to my knowledge and I've kept an 800 pixel width for every page to negate any horizontal scroll for my large images, etc. I feel confidant this is the way to present this type portfolio; so no, I don't think I would change anything at this time in XHTML and CSS 2.
